Why study with us
In regards to the growing demand of specialised radiological technicians locally and regionally, the UMST has launched a Master in Diagnostic Medical Imaging by course and thesis in 2013, focusing on Ultrasound, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, with highlights in interventional radiological techniques.
Due to the growing need for highly qualified Technologists, the course is aiming at upgrading and excelling the standards of Technologist who hold basic qualifications. This will be achievable by stressing the concept of recent advances in Diagnostic Medical Imaging biological hazards involved and computer technology.
The mission is to advance the development, improvement, integration and use of minimally invasive medical imaging solutions through research, technology development, clinical practice and research. Also become the authority on and driving force behind evidence-based medical imaging innovation.
It will have a focusing on:
- Imaging technology: Computed Tomography, Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, X-rays and Nuclear imaging;
- Developing new, non-invasive, medical imaging techniques; and improving existing imaging technologies (CT,MRI,U/S etc.);
The course will highly qualify graduates who will shoulder the perfect diagnostic application and help in medical imaging which is the answer.
For the patient management it is rapidly becoming the interdisciplinary science for extracting information from the human body. Medical imaging techniques enable earlier diagnosis and eliminate the need for unnecessary invasive interventions. Both improves the patient’s quality of life and saves cost. Chronic diseases, such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases or neurological disorders, can be treated more effectively when diagnosed at an earlier stage and this can be achieved by applying medical practices transformation.
Radiological technicians who are master degree holders have a lot of future career opportunities in the private sector, as teaching staff in different academic institutions both locally and regionally.
